I have been in love with wood-fired ceramics for a long time. Slovenia does not even have one high temperature wood-fire kiln, so I could only dream to fire my ceramics in such a kiln. I sent my wish to the Universe, and here I am,
couple of years later, in Miaoli County – heart of Taiwan wood-firing. I am an artist in residence in Zhunan Snake kiln. My main mission is to research high temperature wood-firing. For more than one month I have been working on my production, but also attended several firings in the area. In my works I tried to combine Slovenian shapes with techniques I have been developing in last two years and also explore shapes of functional Taiwanese wares. Here
tea of course plays a big part in ceramic world. And I have always admired the beauty of contour lines on topographic maps. Maps represent Earth and we use them when we are travelling. My works are inspired by those lines – Lines of Earth, which is also the name of my upcoming exhibition.
